Password-protect a link
Add a password gate to any published public link for an extra layer of control.
Any published link can carry a password. When it's on, visitors have to enter the password before they can see the page — a simple gate for anything you want to share more selectively.
Turn on password protection

Open the item's publish controls
Go to the published document, recording, file, folder, sheet, or sketch you want to protect.

Add a password
Toggle password protection on and set a password.

Share the link and the password
Send the public link as usual, and give the password to the people who should get in.
Password protection layers on top of the fact that public pages are already unlisted and noindex — so only people with both the link and the password can view the page.
